This painting was a wedding gift to a Toronto couple who had met while hiking the 100 km trail system in Killarney Provincial Park.
The summit of the mountains were endearing to them as they swithcbacked through the forest to come out onto this great plateau of smooth rock, facing such a beautiful expansive view.

Beaches of Georgian Bay in January · Jan 10, 08:32 pm
A much shorter day trip – and just a 15 minute drive down the Highway from us, are these Beaches along the Concession Lines 17, 14, 12, and 9. Cawaja was my favourite … Thunder Beach a very close second! It’s all amazing really, and without question, a Snowscape series is looming … to be added onto the Antarctica commissioned painting just completed (see Carol Currie, New works).

Killarney Winter 3-day Yurt Expedition · Jan 6, 04:03 pm
We hit our year off on the right foot and celebrated the New Year in this Yurt at Killarney Provincial Park.
Since we don’t have a 4 season tent, we decided to have an easy go on our first winter expedition together (and well, I admit I am a bit of a princess when it comes to cold weather).
We completely lucked out with the weather as it was supposed to be snowing conditions the whole time we were gone. But the sun popped out the first day of hiking and there was only a light snow on the second day. Frigid temps though at -20 to -40 with windchill made us very thankful for the Yurt.
We hiked to Lumsden Lake the first day … 2 hours one way.
Then to the Crack the second day … 3 hours one way.
What a trip!

This painting was commissioned by a glaciologist who saw my work in Style at Home Magazine, and after some discussions about subjects, and after learning he had photos from his Antarctica Expeditions, we came up with this composition taken from his photographs.
