Painting by Carol Currie - Final Installation · Nov 8, 10:47 pm

This piece entitled “Life in the Boulders” was one of my favourite paintings and installations to date. The work is featured on a beautiful curved wall which can be viewed from several different locations in their home, including from their upper level.

It is a true testament to creating art to specifically accent and utilize architectural features. After discussions with the clients, and a few walls to consider, they decided that since I am known for creating multiple panels pieces to complement spaces, they chose to create a triptych to be installed on what would otherwise be a very difficult wall to place art. The dimension of the painting installed is 40” x 62” which commands this space beautifully, bringing attention to this beautiful hallway space.

PAINTING OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER 2010 · Sept 12, 01:28 pm

This piece called “Rolling Rocks of the Peak” is nearly complete. I worked in a semblance of a tree on the right panel to give the painting some ‘life’. Now that the painting is installed in our gallery, I can contemplate how I want to change the tree. For me, it is too small and will add more to have more presence.

The piece can be sold as either a diptych to include the two left panels, or as a full triptych. The triptych is a good substantial size installed at 40” x 60” … large enough to bring presence to a room.

The subject is taken from a hike through Killarney Provincial Park on the West cliff of the Crack.

We are open Saturday of the September long weekend so do come and see what I am working on, and these paintings that are currently available for purchase.

PAINTINGS of the MONTH - AUGUST 2010 · Aug 23, 09:11 pm

Well these paintings are a few of my favourites recently completed this month.

I am attempting to capture those gorgeous warm summer days we have been having … reviving the memory of laying on these warm rocks by the water, or up high on the mountains of La Cloche, near Killarney Ontario.
Aaah what a summer it has been.

I have been feverishly sketching as well … prepping my next series, which will include 10 paintings … mostly boulderous landscapes from Killbear to Killarney.

We are open Saturday of the September long weekend so do come and see what I am working on, and these paintings that are currently available for purchase.

PAINTINGS OF THE MONTH - July 2010 · Jul 21, 11:27 pm

For the month of July, I am including two paintings as my monthly favourites …

The first piece is a triptych capturing the smoothened rock caused by the ice age over Silver Peak of Killarney Provincial Park. This scene was found off trail and shows the definitive attempt to survive on the side of such a tremendous drop to the valley beyond, where the winds can be fierce.

The second piece is a diptych again inspired by off trail hiking around the Crack of Killarney Provincial Park. These boulders, the size of small cars sit permanent and strong, marking again the power of the ice age as it scraped through the area.

Both pieces were sold within hours of completion.

Painting of La Cloche Mountains, Willisville and West Wind Tree - PAINTING OF THE WEEK · Jun 11, 04:10 pm

This was a very interesting painting. It started off a small solo 9” x 12” painting. The client knew I tend to enjoy creating multiple panel paintings, so she asked if I could add onto this first original piece with maybe one or two more panels. Being very familiar with this area of the La Cloche Mountains, I knew immediately that I could easily compose at least a three panel (triptych) for her.

This final triptych painting is what developed from this first painting.
