PAINTING OF THE MONTH - January 2011 · Jan 14, 08:57 pm
We are bringing this new work along with several other pieces to a special invitational exhibition for a members only Ski Club at Osler Bluffs in Collingwood Ontario tomorrow. It’s our first time exhibiting there … should be fun!
This piece I entitled, THE PILLAR, was inspired from off trail trekking in Killarney Provincial Park. This rock projected well over 30 feet tall. It’s base is strong and powerful while the tip appears surrealistically fragile. Standing in this location, one can clearly see that the sloping smooth rock to the left was the Pillar’s ‘partner piece’ – prior to the ice age, it was one rock … remarkable!

Boulderous Rockface Painting Installation in Barrie · Jan 9, 04:15 pm
This piece entitled “Boulderous Rockface” was created specifically for this stunning wall in a beautiful Barrie home. The client was undergoing renovations to their fireplace and wanted a feature piece on the long wall and chose new furnishings to complement the new fireplace and contemporary artwork.
What a transformation! The piece installed at 36” x 90”.
The BEFORE photo shows a round stone fireplace with a large sectional couch. The AFTER photo shows the contemporary landscape painting along with more contemporary straight line furnishings with a linear stone fireplace adn refined mantle.

LATEST AVAILABLE WORKS of Georgian Bay! · Dec 9, 08:21 pm
HOT off the painting easles … my latest solo works from our adventures to Killbear, Western Islands, Killarney, and our local Beaches. The last photo shows the work to scale in our gallery. To view these works in person, contact us at 705-527-4632 to make an appointment. The pieces really are much more stunning in person as photos just don’t capture all the fine details and colours that are in the original painting.
These works are all small studies, which means that if you are particularly fond of a piece but would like one for a feature wall, I can create one similar to suit your space.
Believe it or not, all these pieces are taken from real life!
Like the Perfect Little Tree (which is also featured in Killarney View). I don’t normally paint perfect trees, but this one captured my heart … currently, it is around 18 inches tall and I will be keeping my eye on it over the years to see how it grows in such an exposed area high on the cliffs of Killarney Provincial Park.
And yes, the orange featured in the Western Islands triptych is also true to life. It is orange lichen growing on the very exposed Western Islands, on Georgian Bay. To reference photos of our excursion, see our blog entitled Western Islands in our TRAVEL & INSPIRATION menu.
Hope you enjoy viewing these works. I invite you to give feedback on these works by adding your comments to this blog.

Painting by Carol Currie - Final Installation · Nov 8, 10:47 pm
This piece entitled “Life in the Boulders” was one of my favourite paintings and installations to date. The work is featured on a beautiful curved wall which can be viewed from several different locations in their home, including from their upper level.
It is a true testament to creating art to specifically accent and utilize architectural features. After discussions with the clients, and a few walls to consider, they decided that since I am known for creating multiple panels pieces to complement spaces, they chose to create a triptych to be installed on what would otherwise be a very difficult wall to place art. The dimension of the painting installed is 40” x 62” which commands this space beautifully, bringing attention to this beautiful hallway space.
