Music Performance by Jacob MacMillan

Claustro Hosts FREE Musical Performance Featuring JACOB MACMILLAN

Sunday May 20th from 2-3pm, CLAUSTRO is hosting a FREE Musical Event with JACOB MACMILLAN.

‘I have been playing guitar for several years. I began in grade 7 at Parkview Elementary, learning guitar with my friends, in our music class taught by Jim MacMillan. After a few months I started studying with a fantastic local guitar instructor Brent Robittaille and became involved in the annual music festivals. In High School threeclose friends and I created a band “The Philistines”. It included Evian Maurice (Drummer Vocal), JonMink (Bass Vocal), Nathaniel Mink (Guitar Vocal) and myself (Guitar Vocal). Weplayed many gigs including; Relay for Life (Penetang, Elmvale), The MapleValley Club, Penetang Museum, Native Friendship Center,2009 and 2010 Nordic OFSAA (Midland)and many more. I switched schools for a fifth year of High School at Elmvale District High School.Their I made friends with their amazing music teacher Louis Lafaive. He helped prepare me for studying music at a University level, taught me a lot about recording, organizing concerts andtheory. He also helped provide our band with the tools for our band to recordand produce our first EP. I went to Guelph University for a Bachelor of Arts in Music and was accepted into the Jazz Guitar Program. I studied music for a semester and a couple months when I decided organized music and education was not for me at the time. I have been continuing to play for personal pleasure and beginning to share my original acoustic material. I love playing singing and writing, always will.’
